In the last few months, Apple has released an incredible array of new iPhone capabilities, with the most significant upgrades arriving in iOS 18, iOS 18.1, and the most recent iOS 18.2. However, there will be more shortly. These are all of the upcoming iOS features that we are aware will be available within the first four months of 2025.
Significant improvements to Siri
According to Apple, Siri has entered a new era, and thus far, things have been a touch disorganized. iOS 18.2 introduced ChatGPT integration, iOS 18.1 introduced a new Siri design, and iOS 18.4 will bring some of the most significant updates to date in April.
Three significant updates will be made to Siri, including:
New app actions: According to Apple, Siri will be able to carry out hundreds of new tasks in Apple apps without ever having to launch them. Third-party apps that are supported will also have the same capabilities thanks to App Intents.
Personal context knowledge: To receive genuinely intelligent help from Siri, you will be able to consult texts you have received, previous calendar events, and additional personal information, just like a real-life assistant.
Onscreen awareness: You may just ask Siri to do something based on what you're looking at because it will be aware of what's on your screen.
Together with ChatGPT compatibility, these modifications should make Siri with Apple Intelligence a truly potent new user experience.
Notifications with priority
Notifications have undergone significant modifications thanks to Apple Intelligence, and more changes are on the horizon: Notifications of priority are on the way.
According to Apple's teaser graphic, a priority summary will let you to view multiple of your most critical messages at once. This should be a pleasant addition to iPhone notification management if it functions well.
A new integrated emoji
You may now design any missing emoji you want using Genmoji. However, Apple intends to keep introducing new emoji to its iPhone's built-in emoji keyboard.
iOS 18.3 or 18.4 is anticipated to bring the next generation of emoji, which will include:
face with bags beneath the eyes.
Fingerprint
Without leaves
root veggie.
the harp
Shovel
Splatter
When it arrives, the weary face will undoubtedly be a hit.
Sketching in Image Playground
Image Playground is a brand-new app that Apple recently put to the iPhone's Home Screen in iOS 18.2.
Using a language prompt or one of the many built-in tools, the AI tool enables you to produce original graphics.
At the moment, Image Playground allows you to create graphics in two different styles: illustration and animation. However, Sketch will shortly be added as a third style.
Once the new style is available, you can use it for both new projects and photos that already exist in your library.
Vacuum robots in the Home app
Robot vacuums will be added as a new device category to Apple's Home app.
The long-awaited robot vacuum feature will be included in Apple's upcoming software update, iOS 18.3, which was previously planned for iOS 18.2.
When iOS 18.3 is released in the coming month or two, you will be able to use Siri instructions or the Home app to control your device if you have a compatible robot vacuum.
New languages for Apple Intelligence
Last but not least, Apple has declared that Apple Intelligence will support a number of additional languages beginning in April with iOS 18.4.
Apple shared a list of languages that will be available in 2025, but it hasn't disclosed which ones will be available in April.
English in Chinese (India)
Singaporean English
French
Portuguese, Korean, Italian, Japanese, and German
Vietnamese, Spanish, and more
New iOS features for 2025: wrap-up
The aforementioned characteristics are but a small portion of what 2025 will bring. Without a doubt, Apple has some surprises with features it hasn't yet revealed in store for iOS 18.3 and 18.4. In addition, WWDC in June will provide significant announcements about iOS 19 and other upcoming releases in 2025.
