Mercedes has already declared that the A-Class hatchback will not survive to see its successor. The current entry-level model, including its flagship AMG A45 S version, can still be purchased, though. Even better, the folks at Affalterbach are giving it a "Limited Edition" with a unique combination of aesthetic changes.
The matte-finish AMG green hell magno paint is now available for the first time on a compact model with the three-pointed star. This eye-catching color was on the AMG GT R when it was first shown back in 2016. Now, the striking green color is paired with striking yellow accents that go all the way around the wheels. Mercedes is putting black body graphics, such as a large AMG logo emblazoned on the hood, as if that weren't enough.
The standard options on this AMG A45 S Limited Edition for Europe total approximately $15,000. Along with the AMG Aerodynamics Package, which includes the large rear wing, it also comes with the AMG Night Package I and II, which have a lot of dark accents. This model only comes with 19-inch forged wheels that have a seven-twin-spoke design and a primarily matte black appearance.
The "45 S" emblem, which is also embroidered on the floor mats, is displayed on the headrests inside, carrying the black and yellow motif further. Side sills bearing the AMG nameplate are present, along with aluminum components, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and synthetic leather upholstery.
The Limited Edition features the most potent four-cylinder engine ever put into a production car, along with a fully variable all-wheel-drive system, just like the standard AMG A45 S. With a powerful 416 horsepower from the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, it can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds.
The M139 found in the new C63 is the same one that is mounted longitudinally (M139I) and generates 469 horsepower, which is an even higher output. Even the lesser-known Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X 2.0 MR FQ-440, which possessed 440 horsepower, is surpassed by that number. By the way, Mercedes says that the four-cylinder C63 will remain in the lineup because it is "very progressive."
