With the latest update, Circle to Search, Google Lens now launches the camera viewfinder as soon as it launches on iOS and Android devices.
In the past, the gallery view would be opened by tapping the Google Lens shortcut in the search bar (Pixel Launcher + widget + Google app) or the app icon that you could download from the Play Store. Although there is a live preview at the top, the majority of the website is devoted to displaying the photographs that are currently on your devices, including your full camera roll and the eight most recent screenshots, for one-tap analysis. Launching the viewfinder required a tap or swipe.
To take a picture, open Google Lens now, and the camera viewfinder appears instantly.
As the use of Circle to Search on Android increases, this modification makes sense. Whereas CtS is for what's on your screen, Lens is Google's specific tool for the actual world.
Google recently changed the viewfinder to display a circular preview of your most recent image rather than a rounded square. To access the gallery, swipe up or press that. It allows you to view past visual searches and joins the history button in the top-right corner, which was added in 2024.
You can now add a text inquiry to your photo by long-pressing the camera button and speaking. Google simplified voice input last year. If you're a member of Search Labs, Google is also exploring video search.
