The Apple Watch Series 8 is among the greatest low-cost smartwatches available right now, despite popular belief

  • 14-December-2023

The distinctly luxurious Apple Watch Series 8 is still unquestionably among the greatest smartwatches money can buy, even in spite of its somewhat advanced age. This 2022 model is almost exactly the same as the 2023 Apple Watch Series 9, and it differs from the latter in one crucial area.

Obviously, the topic of discussion is pricing, which has been lowered several times for the Series 8 at a number of significant US retailers following the introduction of the Series 9 a few months ago. That's once again the case at Walmart, where you can currently get this beloved classic for as little as $249, especially with Christmas quickly approaching.

That is, however, for a low-end GPS-only model with a tiny 41mm casing available in a variety of colors. In contrast, a large 45mm device with standalone 4G LTE connectivity is available for $349 following a very nice $180 reduction from a $529 list price.

Finally, the regular prices of the non-cellular 41 and 45mm models are reduced by a modest but noteworthy $150 from $399 and $429, respectively. A small Apple Watch Series 8 that can make and receive voice calls alone is currently on sale for $329, down from $499.

These hot new last-minute holiday discounts, while not unprecedented in the slightest, may not last long enough to make the Series 8 an attractive Christmas gift option. It's also possible that the Series 8 is currently the best affordable smartwatch available to Apple fans.

With its incredibly high-quality Retina display, life-saving ECG technology, blood oxygen monitoring, fall detection, crash detection, incredibly durable (and fairly elegant) design, and... not too bad battery life, this bad boy delivers unmatched value for your money. Forget about the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch SE 2.
