Samsung to Return to Square-Shaped Design for Future Galaxy Watches

  • 12-March-2024

According to reports, Samsung is getting ready to release more Galaxy smartwatches with a rectangular design in the future. This would be different from the circular design of the most recent Galaxy Watch models. In 2013, the South Korean electronics manufacturer unveiled the square-screened Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear Live, which had a similar display form factor, came after it. The first smartwatch from Samsung with a circular design and a real rotating bezel was the Gear S2.

According to a SamMobile report, Samsung wants to redesign its smartwatches with a square, Apple Watch-like look. The well-known Android watch manufacturer is said to be drawing inspiration from earlier iterations of its devices, such as the Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Gear 2, and Galaxy Gear Live, which were released more than ten years ago.

With the Galaxy Gear S2, Samsung debuted a circular design and a rotating bezel. Ever since, the business has adhered to the circular design language. The design is also the same for the most recent generation of Galaxy Watch 6 models.

Uncertainty surrounds whether the switch to square-shaped screens will happen next year with the Galaxy Watch 7 series or not.

The Galaxy Watch 7 series, which includes the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch 7 Classic models, is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 smartphones at the company's upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. July is one possible month for the event. Redesigned software and Exynos chips are anticipated for the phones.

The base Bluetooth version of the currently available Galaxy Watch 6 costs Rs. 19,999 in India, while the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is priced starting at Rs. 36,999 too.
