Deep changes to One UI are possible using Samsung's Good Lock without the need for root or other complicated mods, although the framework is only available through the Galaxy Store and is restricted to specific countries. However, in 2025, Samsung will expand the feature alongside One UI 7, bringing Good Lock to the Google Play Store and all nations.
Good Lock is a feature that has been around for a few years and is intended to provide users more control over the program. It can actually address some of the deficiencies of Samsung's Android skin and even solve some actual issues, from changes to the original Samsung launcher to the capability of running any app on the Galaxy Z Flip's cover display.
Good Lock will be available to more users in One UI 7 since it will be available on the Google Play Store in addition to "all" nations.
In a forum post (via), a Samsung representative verified the report by stating that Good Lock in One UI 7 "can be used in all countries." Additionally, distribution will be made available through the Google Play Store instead of just the Galaxy Store.
Samsung is also updating the Good Lock app, stating that "the overall composition of the main app has been changed to improve UI convenience," so this won't be the only significant change. In order to help customers better manage Good Lock apps, the post explains that this will contain a filter for particular Good Lock apps as well as a new "My Page" option. Samsung also states that an update will be made shortly to a number of Good Lock apps that aren't yet compatible with One UI 7.
Samsung's Android 15 version, One UI 7, is presently in beta testing on the Galaxy S24 series and will be released later in January on the Galaxy S25 series.
