On March 22, Oppo Watch X will be officially launched in China, the company announced today. In Malaysia, the Oppo Watch X made its debut on February 29th, according to the company. It is noteworthy that this is the same product that was unveiled at MWC 2024 in late February alongside the OnePlus Watch 2.
One significant distinction between the watch's Chinese and global versions is how software is used. In China, the company will sell the Oppo Watch X with its ColorOS Watch based on AOSP, which could help them lower the product price. In the global market, the Oppo Watch X is equipped with Google's Wear OS 4. The hardware specs ought to stay the same aside from that point.
The product's global version comes with a strap composed of "fluororubber" and a stainless steel buckle in two distinct color options: Platinum Black and Mars Brown.
The 1.43′′ circular AMOLED display on the front has a resolution of 466x466 pixels and a respectable 326PPI pixel density. The Oppo Watch X can achieve up to 1000 nits in high brightness mode, which is usually activated by bright ambient lighting or direct sunlight, and 600 nits at its default maximum brightness, according to Oppo. The watch weights about 80 grams with the strap included and has a 500 mAh battery. eSIM is apparently supported by the Chinese version.
The Oppo Watch X shares the same dual chipset architecture as the OnePlus Watch 2, meaning that the ultra low-power co-processor microcontroller unit (BES2700BP) controls the system when performing less demanding tasks while the Snapdragon W5 chip handles the heavier lifting. It is noteworthy that the battery life of this device is 12 days. As part of Wear OS 4, Google enabled the dual-chipset architecture with the OnePlus Watch 2. As of right now, they not sure if Oppo has been able to do the same for the Chinese version of the device running the AOSP-based ColorOS Watch OS.
As of right now, the price for the Chinese market is not official. However, some earlier leaks indicate that the Oppo Watch X will retail for about ¥1,000 (~$140) in China. When comparing this price to the global market, it is far more reasonable. The Oppo Watch X with Wear OS, for example, costs NT$10,990 (about $366) in Taiwan.
