Every year, OnePlus usually releases its flagship phones among the first of its competitors. The OnePlus 12 had its global debut a few months after making its debut in China in December 2022. The OnePlus 13 is expected to launch as early as October 2024, with the firm reportedly pushing forward the release date by a few months. Louis Lee, the head of OnePlus China, has officially confirmed all of the rumors and stated that the OnePlus 13 will go on sale next month.
The president of OnePlus hinted in a Weibo post that a notable improvement in performance and efficiency will come with Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 CPU (via Android Authority). It would supposedly utilize a "fully self-developed dual-core architecture to achieve a comprehensive leap and leadership in mobile platform performance (translated)."
The executive is probably talking about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which has Oryon cores that Qualcomm specifically created. The Windows laptops powered by Snapdragon X Elite are running on the same CPU cores. According to what he said, the upcoming OnePlus flagship should be able to run one of the best and most graphically demanding Android games, Genshin Impact, at a steady frame rate of 120 frames per second.
He disclosed that OnePlus will introduce the OnePlus 13 in October in the same post. The phone will probably launch exclusively in China at first, and by late 2025 or early 2026, it should be available in more markets.
Although Lee made no mention of the OnePlus 13 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 directly, it's obvious what he's talking about in light of all the leaks and rumors. He declared last week that the upcoming OnePlus flagship will employ an OLED display that isn't made by Samsung for the second year in a row.
It has already been confirmed by Qualcomm that this year's annual Snapdragon Summit will take place in October—a few weeks earlier than normal. The business will unveil its new flagship SoC at this event, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to make a splash at this year's Summit.
Lu Weibing, the president of Xiaomi China, also mentioned Qualcomm's next flagship Snapdragon chip on Weibo in a similar manner. According to him, the company's optimizations will result in the SoC having "dual super cores," and the company's upcoming flagship phones would offer "the most significant performance experience leap in history."
When OnePlus releases its next flagship phone, the Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi ought to do the same. They are scheduled to make their Chinese debut in late October or early November, with an international debut in early 2025.
