As the OnePlus 13 prepares for its imminent worldwide release, it has been formally confirmed that it will not support Qi2 charging; nevertheless, this does not exclude the usage of MagSafe accessories.
A redesigned design with a flat screen, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and some new colors are among the hardware changes that the OnePlus 13 is anticipated to feature. Although it looks like a rather exciting release, this device won't be the first significant Qi2 launch.
Although there was a good likelihood that the OnePlus 13 would be among the first significant smartphone releases featuring Qi2, this isn't the case. The global version of the OnePlus 13 will utilize the Qi 1.3.3 specification instead of Qi2, according to a listing at the WPC. This means that even though the Qi 2.0.0 standard does not strictly require built-in magnets for charging alignment and accessories, the device will not have them.
The HMD Skyline is currently the only Android smartphone supporting Qi2, and all other smartphones that support the upgraded standard are iPhones.
This does not preclude the OnePlus 13 from receiving any accessories that resemble MagSafe.
In addition to its release in China, OnePlus also unveiled a line of magnetic accessories for the OnePlus 13, which are made possible by third-party cases that come with magnetic rings. There won't be anything on the phone itself, but the cases will. Similar "Mag" accessories are being offered by Oppo, which has stated that they will be compatible with the handset worldwide and that the cases will also function with other MagSafe and Qi2 accessories.
January 2025 will see the release of OnePlus' newest flagship.
