In order to announce that WowMouse has been updated to support the Pixel Watch 2, Doublepoint has traveled to Barcelona. Because the app supports Wear OS, it can effectively turn a user's wristwatch into a "mouse" and add a new level of touchless control over PCs, mobile devices, and VR/AR headsets.
Since showcasing its app at CES 2024 on Samsung Galaxy Watch 4-to 6-series smartwatches, Doublepoint has amassed 30,000 downloads.
Now, it is certain that adding support for the Pixel Watch 2 (currently retailing for $244 on Amazon) will help it grow the user base for WowMouse, which is available for free on the Play Store.
WowMouse is therefore rated as providing a "effortless" Minority Report effect on a user's paired devices, with additional "intuitive" use of a watch's crown (if available) for functions like scrolling. These gestures are similar to Apple's Double Tap.
According to Doublepoint, it is compatible with any display that can maintain "seamless Bluetooth connectivity," which includes tablets, laptops, smartphones, and headgear.
In addition, the company unveiled its "Evaluation Kit" at MWC 2024 for OEMs and developers, rated to incorporate its "transformative gesture detection algorithm" into wearables that are currently on the market or that will be developed in the future.
As a result, more smartwatches—including the OnePlus Watch, which in its second generation has finally adopted Wear OS 4—may eventually be able to use this cutting-edge device interface.
