Mid-Range Garmin Smartwatch Enhances Heart Rate Tracking with Latest Software Update

  • 11-April-2024

A new update is available for wearables made by Garmin that are currently in production. A new Jet Lag Adviser glance and several refinements to heart rate data are among the many features of the software update that is currently rolling out.

It has been approximately one month since Garmin launched the Forerunner 265 Software Version 18.22. Several updates for other smartwatches, including two for the Fenix 7 series and its competitors, have been released by the company since then. It has now chosen to focus on the Forerunner 265 once more, if only temporarily on its beta development branch.

This time, the company has brought forth eight changes through Beta Version 19.09, which are as follows:

Incorporates heart rate dynamic source switching to choose the most accurate heart rate data source (chest HRM or watch) while running.

Enhances compatibility with the Garmin Messenger app through a glance and app.
adds a glance at the Jet Lag Advisor.

Use GPS to find the location of a phone connection loss during an activity.

Redresses the device's and Connect's inconsistent activity profile ordering.

Resolves sporadic crashes with the music control.

Resolves the recurring ringing notification for incoming calls.

Various UI improvements.

Garmin's post on the forum states that Beta Version 19.09 is currently in the initial stages of a phased rollout. It's not clear yet if the company will update Forerunner 265 smartwatches registered in its beta program with the new beta build automatically. However, the Forerunner 265 still has the option to manually trigger the download of Beta Version 19.09 by going to the Main Menu, selecting Settings, System, Software Update, and finally selecting 'Check for Updates'.
