Mercedes EQS SUV 2024 pricing stays the same despite a larger battery

  • 02-January-2024

Mercedes-Benz's EQS SUV, which is priced the same as last year, at least for the entry-level model, is back on the market for a second year with a larger battery that should increase range.

The 2023 EQS SUV's 108.4-kwh battery is replaced with a 118-kwh one in the 2024 model. Although exact range estimates are unavailable, the 2023 model's EPA range estimate of up to 305 miles is achieved with its smaller battery.

$105,550 is the same price as before for the base, rear-wheel-drive EQS 450+ grade. It costs $3,000 to add all-wheel drive, which is accomplished in this instance by a dual-motor powertrain with an electric motor at each axle.

Both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive versions of the EQS 450+ are rated at 355 horsepower; however, the latter has a little bit more torque.

Up one level is the EQS 580 grade, which has 536 horsepower and all-wheel drive as standard. With a starting price of $128,500 in 2024 as opposed to $127,100 in 2023, the EQS 580 is marginally more expensive.

Another new model for 2024 is the Maybach EQS 680 grade, which has a starting price of $181,050. Sixty-nine horsepower and all-wheel drive are standard on the Maybach.

A destination charge of $1,150 is included in all prices.

All 2024 EQS SUV grades gain from an updated braking system in addition to the new battery, which Mercedes enhances brake feel, especially during energy recovery phases. The SUVs also come equipped with a heat pump that is intended to increase fuel efficiency in the winter. Additionally, all-wheel-drive models get an extra boost in efficiency thanks to a disconnect feature that switches the system from all-wheel drive to two-wheel drive when the extra traction provided by the former is not needed.

Moreover, the 2024 EQS SUV has more standard features. The MBUX Hyperscreen digital dash, 21-inch wheels, illuminated running boards, ambient lighting package, powered charging port door, rear seat comfort pillows, and an EQ sound experience are among the features on the list. Well-liked features like augmented reality-enabled head-up displays and soft-close door mechanisms have also been made independent choices.

The EQS SUV is manufactured at the Mercedes plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, along with a number of gas-powered models. The smaller EQE SUV is also manufactured there. Mercedes reportedly plans to build the next generation EQS SUV at a German facility to make room at the American plant for an upcoming electric GLC-Class.
