Lava's Inaugural Smartwatch Launching on April 23: Anticipated Features

  • 09-April-2024

India Launch Date of Lava Smartwatch: Local smartphone producer Lava has officially announced its foray into the smartwatch market. Launch date for the company's smartwatch, ProWatch, has been revealed. The launch is set for April 23, 2024, according to the company's information.

Noteworthy is the statement made by Lava International Limited's President and Business Head, Sunil Raina, to Zee Business in August of last year regarding the company's readiness to enter the wearable market.

"We're getting ready to introduce smartwatches. Our smartwatches will be visible to you in the upcoming months. We'll provide customers a few highly intriguing options. These intriguing watches will be manufactured in India, much like our smartphones. During an exclusive interview with Raghwendra Shukla of Zee Business, Raina stated, "We have a fair idea about what consumers want because we have 14 years of experience making smartphones."

Lava ProWatch Expected Features

Improvements in artificial intelligence (AI) are reportedly planned for the Lava ProWatch. It is anticipated that the watch will retail for less than Rs 4,000 and be available for purchase both online and off.

Brands such as Boat, Noise, and Fire-Boltt are among the direct competitors of the Lava ProWatch.

This represents a major move for the Noida-based company, as it has primarily concentrated on feature phones and smartphones up until now. Conversely, wearable technology has been a part of the lineup for all of the big smartphone makers for a while.

However, shipments of smartwatches to India increased by 73.7% last year to a total of 53.4 million units, according to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC).

Boat has a 26% volume share in India's rapidly expanding wearables market, according to IDC. With a volume share of 12.1% and 10.1%, respectively, in 2023, Noise and Fire-Boltt are two more significant players.
