Despite an outstanding performance from the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung's smartphone sales fell last quarter, but its tablet sales rose significantly. The business closed the gap with Apple and became the second-largest tablet company in the world.
In Q3 2024, Samsung sold 7.1 million tablets
In the third quarter of this year, Samsung was the second-largest tablet brand globally, according to the most recent data from the International Data Corporation (IDC). In comparison to the same quarter last year, the South Korean company shipped 7.1 million Galaxy Tab series tablets, an 18.3% increase.
The Galaxy Tab A9 and the Galaxy Tab A9+ were the company's top sellers, until the Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra were introduced in Q3 2024. The sales of Galaxy Tabs for commercial deployments benefited Samsung as well.
In Q3 2024, Apple was still the largest tablet brand in the globe. In comparison to Q3 2023, it shipped 12.6 million iPads, a slight 1.4% increase. Its new iPad Pros with OLED panels haven't sold very well, according to some reports.
111.3% more Kindle Fire tablets were shipped by Amazon this year (4.6 million). Considering that only a few nations sell Kindle Fire tablets, that is an astounding rise. After delivering 3.3 million tablets, a 44.1% increase over the previous year, Huawei was the fourth-largest tablet brand in the world.
Lenovo came in at number five. 3 million tablets were supplied, a 14.7% increase over the previous year. In Q3 2024, about 40 million tablets were supplied globally, a 20.4% increase over the previous year. Therefore, it seems that there is hope again in the tablet market and that things aren't as dire as previously thought.
