In 2024, Starfield will get city maps, new transit options, FSR 3, and other features

Since the RPG's September release, Bethesda has been steadily releasing updates for Starfield; however, these have primarily consisted of bug fixes and minor tweaks. The Xbox game has already received its final update for 2023, but the studio has now revealed what it is working on to release in 2024.

An official Bethesda Game Studios Reddit post delivered the information drop. It stated that a more extensive game update with fixes for "in-progress" stuck quests would be released early in the following year. "Though we fixed several quest issues from occurring, in-progress quest fixes are much harder to fix and we’ve built a new system to correct those without you having to roll back your save," says the company.

In November, the game was given DLSS support with frame generation (DLSS 3). In the near future, fans of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) and Intel XeSS will also be able to enjoy their day. These technologies will work with practically any graphics card when it comes to the early 2024 update.

In 2024, more game features will also be added. This will include the promised PC editor tools and in-game mod support, along with maps that actually offer helpful information when exploring cities.

Another intriguing addition was hinted at by Bethesda, who stated that an update will bring "all new ways of traveling" to Starfield. It is unclear whether this indicates that players will eventually be able to explore planets more quickly with vehicles, have fewer loading screens for smoother transitions, or even have access to extraterrestrial mounts.

The studio employees will take a vacation before starting work on new projects in 2024. Story expansions for Starfield are also planned, though an exact release date has not yet been disclosed.
