Google is releasing nine new features for smartphones and smartwatches that are compatible with its Android and Wear OS updates. These include updates for Google Wallet on Wear OS, an output switcher for Spotify Connect, and a useful AI feature for Android Auto.

Google has revealed a number of new features for Android smartwatches and smartphones in a blog post. These features will gradually roll out for devices that are compatible over the next few days and weeks. To prevent unnecessary distractions for drivers or passengers, Android Auto has an AI feature that can automatically summarize or read aloud lengthy messages or group chats. Furthermore, AI will be able to recommend suitable responses that can be chosen and sent with a single tap.

In an effort to improve the usability of smartphones for people with vision impairments, AI is now able to identify and describe the content of images on Android smartphones. What's currently visible through the smartphone camera can now be read aloud in Google Maps' augmented reality view. You can now annotate documents in Google Docs using a stylus or your finger. Now that Spotify Connect is supported, switching the device that plays music smoothly and uninterruptedly is possible thanks to the output switcher on the Android home screen.

A more comprehensive view of the data is now possible with the Fitbit app thanks to the ability to synchronize extra parameters via Health Connect. It is finally possible to use Google Wallet on Wear OS to scan boarding passes, concert tickets, and membership cards. Additionally, Google Maps can now show public transit information on smartwatches. Last but not least, Gemini, Google's ChatGPT substitute, will be combined with Google Messages to enable users to write to the chatbot directly. Currently, this feature is limited to English.
