The Android 15 upgrade is still not available for the majority of smartphones. Nonetheless, the creation of the Android 16 version has already begun by the massive search engine Google. As we already know, Android 16 will be known as "Baklava" and won't be available until the second quarter of 2025. Additionally, we are aware that the Android 16 release will bring a few modifications. Google may be altering the gesture to launch the Quick Settings menu in Android 16 according to a recent report.
Android 16 will not require a two-finger motion to open the Quick Settings panel
According to a claim by Android Authority, Android 16 will eliminate the need for a two-finger motion to access the Quick Settings menu. Alternatively, you may just swipe up and down the right half of the status bar with one finger. In the code of the Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 release, the new gesture was observed. Interestingly, the feature isn't default activated. To allow the capability, the source has to make some adjustments. Google is making some very minor adjustments to Quick Settings in Android 16; this is one of them.
People detested having to use two fingers to navigate to the Quick Settings menu. Google appears to have implemented the modifications based on user feedback. The future feature has already been incorporated onto several Android phone manufacturers' bespoke Android skins. The date of Google's redesign rollout is still unknown. However, anticipate that it won't be available before to Android 16's release in the second quarter of next year.
The tiles in Quick Settings might be resizable
In Android 16, Google is also making more adjustments to the Quick Settings menu. According to a leak from last month, Android 16's Quick Settings tiles might be resizable. There aren't many Quick Settings customization options available for Android at the moment. Nevertheless, Android 16 will allow you to alter things in terms of size and shape. The two sizes that you might select from are 2×1 and 1×1.
Additionally, Android 16 would allow you to configure up to 16 tiles. On the Quick Settings panel, you may also mix and match large and small tiles. This will allow you to customize the menu in the next Android version in a lot of ways.
