Alongside the Pixel Feature Drop in December, Google Drive announced that its mobile document scanner will now automatically "enhance."
Google Drive updated their document scanner last year, adding a noticeable little FAB shortcut. There is a redesigned editor and a bespoke camera with auto capture mode. You can use tools to crop and rotate, add filters, and clean (to get rid of fingerprints, stains, and other blemishes). Google has since added a black-and-white filter and JPEG storing.
After taking a picture, the most recent tool appears on the Preview screen: Enhance. You can "perform actions like white balance correction, shadow removal, contrast enrichment, auto sharpening, light improvement, and more" by tapping the glitter icon in the corner.
The objective is "no manual editing needed," and Enhance can be used on ID cards, documents, receipts, and more. The sample below shows a before and after, with the improved version being completely flat.
Google announced on Friday that all "Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts" will have access to the document scanner in Drive in the upcoming weeks.
