Gen 6 smartwatches will be the final ones produced by Fossil Group

The Gen 6 series will be the last wearable product produced by Fossil Group, which has announced that it will no longer be producing smartwatches.

According to The Verge, Fossil has produced Wear OS smartwatches more often than any other company over the years.

According to a Fossil representative cited in the report, "We have made the strategic decision to exit the smartwatch business as the smartwatch landscape has evolved significantly over the past few years."

In order to "support our core strength and the core segments of our business that continue to provide strong growth opportunities for us," Fossil Group is rerouting resources. These include creating and distributing exciting traditional watches, jewelry, and leather goods under both licensed brand names.

Fossil's Gen 6 smartwatch, which debuted in 2021, will be its final model.

For "the next few years," the company plans to keep updating Wear OS watches that are currently in use.

Last year, Fossil was supposed to reveal a new Gen 7 that would have used the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Plus platform, but the announcement was postponed.

The Gen 6 smartwatches from Fossil featured a 1.28-inch round OLED screen housed in a 44mm round casing, available in various styles.

The company unveiled "STAPLE x Fossil," a new watch partnership created in 2022 with renowned streetwear brand STAPLE, led by streetwear pioneer and creative icon Jeff Staple.
