Garmin Releases a Stable Upgrade for their Mid-Range Smartwatch that Includes new Functionality

  • 08-June-2024

A mid-range Garmin wristwatch is getting updated to firmware version 10.20. As of this writing, the majority of people can download the stable update from two sources. Version 10.20 comes with new features like a GPS tool, a new messaging option, and heart rate tracking capabilities.

Firmware version 10.20 for the Venu 3 and Venu 3S smartwatches has been released by Garmin. Many features that were previously tested by customers who installed the beta software version 10.12 are now available for the wearable with the latest stable upgrade. It comes after a small update, version 9.28, that was released in April.

The Find Phone feature, which lets you locate a misplaced phone by using its last known GPS position, was added to firmware version 10.20. Support for the Garmin Messenger app with a companion glance is another new feature.

The addition of the heart rate dynamic source switching tool for users of a smartwatch and chest strap at the same time is also noted in the change log. According to Garmin, the device should increase the precision of heart rate data gathered, especially during running. Users of other wearables, including as the Forerunner 955 and Fenix 7, have noted problems with the feature, though. In addition, GCM Translations has released version 2.17 of its software.

The software was certified to be accessible to 75% of Venu 3 series customers by the Garmin team when they last updated the forum thread on June 6. If presented with an option, you can use Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile to download firmware version 10.20 for the Venu 3 and Venu 3S smartwatches.
