Samsung is reportedly developing a "Galaxy Watch FE" to expand its smartwatch portfolio, which is starting to resemble Apple products more and more.
As per the model numbers discovered by Android Headlines in an IMEI database, Samsung intends to launch the "Galaxy Watch FE" in multiple countries, such as the US and Korea. The smartwatch's SM-R866 model number is all that is known about it, although some speculate that it could be the Galaxy Watch 4 refresh that was hinted at a few months ago.
If so, the hardware design should be recognizable to those who used the previous Exynos W920 chipset. But that's just conjecture for the time being.
The more intriguing aspect of this "Galaxy Watch FE" is what it implies for Samsung's smartwatch range.
Three Galaxy Watch 7 variants are anticipated from the company by 2024. Three models are available: a standard, sporty model, an anticipated "Classic," and a "Pro" model with a larger battery. Along with the "FE" model, which is likely to cost less, that pretty much matches Apple's Watch lineup. Along with the Ultra 2 and the more affordable Apple Watch SE, Apple currently offers the Apple Watch Series 9 in two sizes.
Although it's a wise move on Samsung's part, the main unknown is what Samsung's pricing point of entry will be. Just $50 more than the Apple Watch SE, the Galaxy Watch 6 has a starting price of $299. If may had to estimate, the price to aim for would be $199.
Although Samsung is anticipated to release the Galaxy Watch 7 in July, this "FE" might show up at any moment.
