On Thursday, Microsoft revealed a new feature for Outlook that would let you employ generative AI to generate themes according to your own tastes.
Those with a Copilot Pro consumer membership and business accounts that have Copilot activated can access AI-powered themes. They are accessible via the web, Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
You can design a theme based on your own area or one inspired by over 100 destinations with Themes by Copilot. Whether you would like the theme to change dynamically every few hours, daily, weekly, or monthly is up to you.
After creating a theme, you have the option to view it in cartoon, realistic, or oil painting styles.
“If you’ve enabled location permissions in Outlook, the My Location theme will bring you imagery uniquely inspired by your locale, dynamically updating for you as you head out the door on a trip or vacation,” Microsoft wrote in the blog post. “Similarly, a dynamic theme based on the weather would be updated to reflect the current weather conditions where you are.”
The AI-generated themes are accessible through Outlook's Appearance Settings.
According to the company, users will be able to customize the email service in the same way that they would decorate their workstation with candles or artwork.
The new AI capability offers a fun way to customize your email app, but it doesn't give any added functionality. Although Gmail does not presently provide AI themes, Outlook users now have a little more creative latitude, even though both Google and Microsoft have been aiming to integrate AI-powered productivity capabilities into their email systems.
The news on Thursday follows Microsoft's release of AI-powered Notepad and Paint features the day before. With the use of artificial intelligence, Windows Insiders will have access to a "Rewrite" tool that will allow them to change the length of their content, reword sentences, and alter tone.
Regarding Paint, new AI image editing capabilities will be made available to Windows Insiders, such as a Generative Fill function that allows you to add and change images using text prompts. You can eliminate extraneous elements from your artwork using a new feature called Generative Eraser.
In the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, and Germany, Microsoft is releasing the two features in preview form on Windows 11.
