In the MPV market, BYD will formally introduce its new model, the Xia, two days later.

BYD announced yesterday that the Xia MPV would have its premiere event at the Beijing National Aquatics Center on January 8th, beginning at 19:30 Beijing Time.

Following the Denza D9, another MPV owned by the BYD Group, the Xia is the high-end model in BYD's Dynasty lineup.

The Song Max and M6 MPV were first introduced by BYD in China in 2010 and 2017, respectively. In China, both variants are currently no longer available.

According to a prior regulatory filing, the plug-in hybrid Xia MPV has dimensions of 5,145 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, 1,805 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,045 mm.

The proportions are slightly less than those of the Denza D9, which measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, 1,920 mm in height, and 3,110 mm in wheelbase.

According to the regulatory filing in October, the Xia is propelled by an electric motor with a maximum power of 200 kW and an engine with a displacement of 1,498 ml and a maximum power of 115 kW.

On the opening day of the Chengdu auto show on August 30, BYD unveiled the Xia, announcing at the time that the MPV will have a price tag of RMB 300,000 ($40,980).

The Xia is the first Dynasty in recorded Chinese civilization, and the model is a member of BYD's Dynasty lineup. The Ocean series is BYD's other main lineup.

Previously, the Han, Tang, Qin, Song, and Yuan families—all named after actual Chinese dynasties—were part of BYD's Dynasty series.

BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, which was introduced on May 28 of last year and reduces fuel usage, is anticipated to be included in the Xia.

On September 27, BYD started taking pre-orders for the Xia, but at the time, it did not disclose any pricing details.
