Bug Fixes and new Features, Garmin Releases a new Stable Update for its Older Forerunner Smartwatch

  • 06-March-2024

It has been a few weeks since Garmin updated the Forerunner 255 beta software. The company released the Forerunner 165 in the interim, the full details of which we have covered separately. Though the company quietly replaced Beta Version 18.20 with an otherwise identical Beta Version 18.21, Garmin had initially provided Beta Version 18.20 as an upgrade from the Beta Version 18.15 update that it released at the end of January.

At present, all Forerunner 255 smartwatches are receiving Software Version 18.22. According to Garmin's forum post, Software Version 18.22 appears to be the replacement for Software Version 17.26, which was released two months ago. Rather, it states that Software Version 18.22 is 50% deployed and offers the option to download the update via Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) when it becomes available.

In any case, all Forerunner 255 smartwatches running stable software builds will see twenty changes with Software Version 18.22. As can be seen from the changelog provided by Garmin below, the majority of the improvements in Software Version 18.22 are bug fixes. But there are also four new features, like the ability to undo a recorded lap and a Sleep Coach glance mode.
