August Security Update For Pixel Is Released By Google

The security update for Pixel smartphones from August 2024 has been rolled out by Google. The update fixes boot loops and screen flickering, among other performance problems and serious vulnerabilities. Patching security flaws with high to critical severity is the main goal of the security update.

The August Pixel Update advisory states that the update addresses 35 more issues that were resolved in the August 5 update, in addition to fixing 11 vulnerabilities that were present in the August 1 release. These patches fix issues without requiring additional execution rights that could have led to improper privilege escalation. Additional updates include addressing boot loops that arise following a factory reset and flickering of the screen under certain circumstances.

The upgrade includes improvements to the user interface as well. It enhances the experience for users who alternate between having and not having a lock screen.

On Pixel devices, this update can be downloaded via over-the-air (OTA) updates. On the Android website, users can also obtain it through factory and over-the-air images.
