According to new market intelligence data, Q3 shipments of the Apple Watch are up 7% year over year and may have reached all-time highs. It was stated that the most recent Apple Watch SE "significantly" contributed to that growth.
The biggest winner this year was Huawei, which overtook Samsung in sales and became a significant force in the high-end smartwatch market.
Data from Counterpoint Research, which defines premium smartwatches as those that can run third-party apps, was made available to the public. These are called High-level Operating System (HLOS) smartwatches by the company.
In actuality, that growth was marginally slower than the 9% growth experienced by the market as a whole during that time.
Huawei stood out because it managed to recover from US chip sanctions that nearly drove the company out of the smartphone market. A large portion of its smartwatch sales were dependent on bundles with its phones.
While the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic appears to be doing well in sales, demand for older products fell off significantly.
