According to DIGITIMES Research's figures from the global notebook shipment update report for November, the top 5 notebook brands in the world, excluding Apple, saw a 10% increase in combined shipments from October to November. The top 3 ODMs saw a similar level of growth.
Out of the top five brands, Hewlett-Packard (HP) saw the biggest on-month growth in November, up over 46%; Acer followed at about 10%; Lenovo and Asustek Computer saw monthly declines. November shipments for Dell were unchanged from the previous month.
The top brands' November shipments all saw growth, with their combined volumes increasing by more than 19% year over year, according to the report's figures.
Conversely, the combined performance of the top 3 OEMs in November shipments was only flat year over year, declining by less than 1%. While Quanta Computer was the only one of the top three ODMs to experience a year-over-year decline, it was also the main driver of the top ODMs' November shipment growth.
The leading notebook manufacturers anticipate that their combined shipments will continue to increase in December. The only company to suffer from a month-over-month decrease is Dell.
Products with detachable notebooks are treated as tablets by Digitimes Research. Removable keyboard convertible notebooks are regarded as notebooks.
