A New Update Brings New Enhancements to Flagship Garmin Smartwatches

  • 19-February-2024

A fresh update for the Fenix 7 series and its competitors has been released by Garmin. To put things in perspective, Beta Version 16.17 follows a wave of updates for the most recent Forerunner models, such as the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 965. Furthermore, about a week after the release of Beta Version 16.16, which included twelve significant fixes and enhancements, Garmin released Beta Version 16.17.

In comparison, there are a lot less changes in Beta Version 16.17. Nonetheless, it seems to be compatible with all models, in contrast to the 'Non-Pro' limitation that was present in Beta Version 16.16. therefore believe that all of the modifications present in Beta Version 16.16 have been incorporated into Beta Version 16.17 for devices such as the Fenix 7 Pro and Epix 2 Pro series.

Regarding the former, Garmin asserts that it has fixed two bugs that remain. On the one hand, Beta Version 16.17 should fix a bug that could result in the loss of HR and power zone data when choosing "lap undo." The same update, however, is supposed to address a possible problem where a device might shut down while plugged in to a computer and in activity. For Pro devices updating to Beta Version 16.17, the complete change log is as follows:

UI bug where the Lap Discarded banner would not immediately fully animate out was fixed.

Fixed a bug in the user interface where the settings menu did not display the multisport message.

The problem where the activity history page would not display the jump rope reps has been fixed.

Resolved a bug that could have resulted in the loss of HR zone and power zone data upon lap undo.

Fixed a bug wherein swimming-related activities did not produce personal records.

Fixed a bug that caused the inReach remote page to appear during a multisport transition.

rectified potential crash when removing a course.

Fixed potential crash when returning the device to the factory settings.

Possibly caused by jump rope activities not allowing the auto-enable power mode setting to be disabled has been fixed.

A potential problem where the mini map would disappear from activities has been fixed.

Fixed a possible bug that could have caused a device to shut off while using a computer while it was connected.

Resolved a possible crash that occurred when starting an exercise in the workouts app.

Disabled Find My Phone while using GPS.
